Executive Director Update - May 2020

VOCA Amendments

It has come to our attention that Minister Schweitzer will be introducing the Victims of Crime Amendment Act on May 28th.  Note that other than the review they did in relation to Financial Benefits, there has been NO consultation on anything else in the Act.  This has been our concern all along, introducing amendments to an Act without any prior consultation and input from stakeholders?  If you have not been in contact with your local MLAs and Mayors/Reeves you should be doing so immediately and expressing your concerns and demanding consultation.  Time is of the essence at this stage and Boards, PMs, communities and others invested in Victim Services in their communities need to act NOW!  The Association itself has sent out a letter to all MLAs in the Province under our letterhead.

Transition 2020 Survey

We have received responses from 39/60 Program Managers which is 65% but we really would appreciate more!  We’ve had 6 Board members and 3 police liaisons/supervisors which is nice.  Thanks!  CLOSES May 22nd so we are at stage 3 on the Nudge Continuum.  Ave 12 minutes to complete.

2020 APBVSA Personnel Survey

Just a friendly nudge (stage 2.5) asking you to complete the 2020 Personnel Survey asap. We have 26 respondents so far and the value of collecting this information consistently, over time has made a difference.  Ave 34 min to complete.
